A to Z of Council Services:

Bats

Bats are fascinating animals - the only true flying mammal. They account for more than a quarter of mammal species in the UK, and around a fifth of all mammal species worldwide, so they are a vital part of our native wildlife.

Bats are an important part of our natural heritage, and indicators of a green and healthy environment, so their future is directly linked to our quality of life and the quality of our environment.

All UK bats and their roosts are protected by law.
