Declaration Of Interests (Councillors)

Summary

Councillors are required by law to declare certain interests when they become a councillor. These interests include the name of their employer, details of any land or house they occupy within the district, interests in companies and securities in which they have substantial interests which operate in the district and other financial interests.

Councillors are also required to register gifts or hospitality over the value of £25.

Details

  • Details of each councillor's declarations are entered in a register that can be seen during normal office hours at Democratic Services, Lancaster Town Hall, Lancaster LA1 1PJ.
  • Interests declared in council meetings can be viewed online for each councillor
  • A register of councillors' declarations of any gifts or hospitality exceeding £25 in value is also available for inspection at Lancaster Town Hall. Please contact us to arrange an inspection.
