Service Details

  • In amenity parks such as Happy Mount Park and on Morecambe Promenade the grass is cut and collected every six days between April and October.
  • Playgrounds are visually inspected weekly and moving parts are tested every three months all year round.
  • From May to August playgrounds are also inspected at weekends.
  • We also offer support to residents and community groups looking to improve play areas or green spaces in their area.  Please click here to download an information booklet about setting up a friends groups, including a comprehensive contact list.

Further Information

  • The urban core includes Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham, Overton and Middleton.
  • Parks and open spaces outside the urban core are usually the responsibility of local parish councils, or Lancashire County Council.
  • Some opens spaces are the responsibility of the construction company, private land owners or social housing schemes – in these cases Lancaster City Council would not carry out maintenance work unless contracted to do so.
  • Lancaster City Council Wellbeing Service is responsible for the day to day management of the main parks and take bookings for sports pitches.  Click here to visit the Parks and Promenade Page.
