Infectious Disease

Summary

Infectious diseases are diseases that are transmissible from one person to another.

When a GP diagnoses an infectious disease, they have a duty to notify the Local Authority, giving the personal details of the patient and the disease contracted. The Local Authority then has a duty to investigate the cause of the disease and determine if there is a threat to other people and take appropriate action.
