Public Speaking at Council Meetings

Summary

You can speak at the various meetings held by the council. The procedure differs according to which meeting you want to speak at.

Procedures

  • Public Participation at Council Meetings
  • Planning Committee: You can register to speak on a particular planning application. You must register with Democratic Services by 12 noon on the Thursday before the committee meeting. Full details on speaking at the Planning and Highways Regulatory committee
  • Addressing Full Council: You can address the full council. Your address must be received at least 7 working days before the meeting.
  • Asking a question of Full Council: You can ask question at a meeting of the full council. You must give notice of your question 3 working days before the meeting.
  • Public speaking at Cabinet: You can make a statement of fact or opinion, or ask a question at a Cabinet meeting. To speak at a Cabinet meeting you must contact us by 12 noon on the Thursday before the meeting. Full details on speaking at Cabinet meetings
