A new home composting bin scheme is now in operation.
Compost bins are available to buy at a reasonable rate as part of this scheme and will be delivered to homes in Lancashire with full instructions on how to get started. Bin prices start at just £16, with £5.49 delivery and an option to buy one get one half price on certain bins.

What can I compost?
Greens
- Fruit and vegetable peelings
- Grass cuttings
- Leaves
- Weeds and cut flowers
- Tea bags and coffee grounds
Browns
- Egg shells
- Paper and cardboard
- Bedding from vegetarian animals
- Garden prunings
A good mixture of 'greens' and 'browns' should give you a good quality compost that can be used on your garden.
Compost for Community Initiatives.
Green waste collected by local councils is composted at the Waste Recovery Parks. A limited supply is available free for groups to use to improve the environment in their local area. To find out more click here.
