Roadside Verge Cutting
Summary
The council is responsible for cutting grass, hedges and roadside verges in open spaces within the Urban Core and all rural council estates within the authority.
Service Details
- From April-October grass areas are cut once every two weeks.
- From April-October the roadside verges within urban/suburban areas are cut every two weeks. Verges on outlying roads, such as those around Overton and Middleton are cut twice a year in June & September.
- Hedges are cut twice a year in June & September.
- The grass is cut and collected from Council Sheltered Housing Schemes and Council properties once every six days from April-October.
Further Information
- The Urban Core includes Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham, Overton and Middleton
- Parks and open spaces outside the Urban Core are usually the responsibility of Parish Councils, or Lancashire County Council.
- Some opens spaces are the responsibility of the construction company, private land owners or social housing schemes – in these cases Lancaster City Council would not carry out maintenance work unless contracted to do so.
