Water Conservation

Summary

The Environment Agency is responsible for monitoring, reporting and acting to reduce the impact of drought on the environment. Water companies are responsible for maintaining supply to meet the needs of their customers, while protecting the environment. Both organisations have well developed drought plans which are regularly tested.

What you can do

Water is a precious resource and we urge everyone, including businesses and other organisations, to use water responsibly. This is especially important at present due to the low rainfall we have experienced over recent months. Our own staff in the North West are receiving regular updates on the situation and are being encouraged to use less water. We have also stopped all ‘non-essential’ water use by our own organisation.

You can find out more about how to use water wisely on the Environment Agency’s website: www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/beinggreen
