Charges for replacement bins and boxes

In April 2016 a charge was introduced for the delivery of all replacement bins and boxes, in addition to the provision of containers for new properties in the district.

Each year the council spends in excess of £140,000 replacing wheeled bins and recycling boxes. To cover the administration and delivery costs we will make a charge. The cost of the container is subsidised but this allows us to recoup some of these costs.

We're sorry we have to charge, even if it's not your fault a bin is missing. The charges are a one-off cost and are for the administration, provision and delivery of the containers. The containers remain the property of the city council.

Delivery charges

  • Wheelie Bin £16.25 + VAT (£19.50 total)
  • Recycling Box £4.33 + VAT (£5.20 total)

How do I order replacement bins and boxes?

Please contact Customer Services on 01524 582491 or email customerservices@lancaster.gov.uk with your request. Once payment has been confirmed your bins will be delivered within 15 working days.

Keep your bins and boxes safe

Once you have your bins and boxes, it is your responsibility to keep them safe and mark them clearly with your house name or number to prevent them from going missing or being stolen. This can be painted on your bins and boxes.

If your collection is from the rear alley you should ensure you have your house name or number on your gate.
