Ruskins View by the Environment Agency

The Rural Development Programme aims to improve the rural economy and the environment and quality of life in the countryside. It is jointly funded by the European Union and the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

Individual grants are available for:
  • Existing small rural businesses looking to develop or expand
  • Farm households looking to diversify
  • Farm or forestry businesses wishing to develop new products or processes
  • New rural businesses to set up
For a project to be eligible it must:
  • be based in a rural area
  • aim to create jobs for the local community
  • be completed by the end of 2013.

Certain other criteria must also be met.
