Lancaster and Morecambe College offers a wide range of options including job-related training, broad-based education and recreational activities, taking in a wide range of both full and part time vocational and non-vocational courses.

The College offers Modern Apprenticeships, plus Higher Education and Distance Learning courses. Landmark - the business division of Lancaster & Morecambe College - provides professional training solutions for the business community.

The main site is situated midway between Lancaster and Morecambe plus there are a number of community education centres within the district.

Lancashire Adult Learning is Lancashire County Council's adult learning service, providing adult learning programmes at The Adult College, Lancaster, Lancashire College, Chorley, Alston Hall Longridge and at over 600 community venues across Lancashire (excluding the unitary authorities).

The University of Cumbria (formerly St Martin's College) was formed on 1st August 2007 formally, from an amalgamation of St Martin’s College, Cumbria Institute of the Arts, and the Cumbrian campuses of the University of Central Lancashire. The University has campuses in Carlisle, Newton Rigg, Penrith, Ambleside and Lancaster and a specialist teacher-education centre in London.

Lancaster University was founded in 1964 and its campus at Bailrigg, south of Lancaster, has been developing ever since. The University gained a place in the Top 10 British institutions in higher education research, a position which it has successfully retained. In a highly competitive world, "excellence" is essential to attract students and also attract additional sources of funding. Eight of the University’s Departments are rated an excellent 5 or the highest possible of 5*.

Furniture Matters is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee that recycles and reuses furniture, white goods, paint and cycles. They offer a number of practical training opportunities such as Cycle Maintenance & Repair, First Aid and Electrical Appliance Repair.

People's Centres are IT learning centres based in libraries across North Lancashire. The 15 Centres provide access to hardware & software products as well as training opportunities - especially for anyone who has difficulty in using computers.
