Our licensing responsibilities
We issue a wide range of licences and permits in the district:
- Alcohol and Entertainment
The council is responsible for issuing and managing licences in respect of all premises that provide facilities for the supply of alcohol, the provision of regulated entertainment and the provision of late night refreshment.
- Taxi and Private Hire
The council is responsible for licensing all Hackney and Private Hire vehicles and drivers in the area.
The council is responsible for licensing premises for gambling, granting permits for gaming machines in clubs and institutes, regulating gaming machines in pubs and clubs and registering lotteries, among others.
- Other Licences
The council is responsible for numerous other licences and permits from charitable collections to animal welfare and from acupuncture to motor salvage. See Licences issued by Lancaster City Council for full details.
