Street Pride

Street Pride
Nominations from the public have helped to set the new Street Pride programme for 2011/12.
Street Pride allows you to improve your area by getting involved with public agencies such as the council, police, local volunteers and your neighbours.
Twenty areas around the district will benefit from Street Pride over the next year.
Eleven nominations from the public have successfully helped to set the programme, with the remainder coming from local councillors.
The aim of the project is to give communities an initial boost to smarten up their neighbourhood and put pride back into our communities.

Street Pride gets underway at Dorrington Road, Lancaster
The scheme was launched on Dorrington Road in Lancaster and you can view a video of the day below.
Services provided include: street cleaning, gully emptying, minor highway repairs, weeding and tree pruning, and in some cases the planting of shrubs.
Street Pride events don’t replace the council’s normal programme of street cleansing, but complements it in areas that otherwise may not be able to be tackled.
How can I get involved?

Paving the way to a cleaner district
If your street has been chosen to take part in Street Pride then we'd really like you to get involved on the day. We'll contact you in the weeks leading up to the clean to let you know how you can get involved. Read our news release for details of which streets have been chosen to take part in the 2011/12 programme.
If your street isn’t taking part in Street Pride you can still help to do your bit to keep our district clean.
Lancaster City Council can provide help and advice on how you can organise your own community clean-ups, along with equipment for litter picks. And once your clean-up is complete we’ll come and take the rubbish away for you.

Everyone can get involved in Street Pride
Equipment we can provide includes bags, gloves, bibs and litter grabbers. For more information, and to arrange equipment, email litterpick@lancaster.gov.uk or telephone 01524 582491.
By working together, and each doing our part, we can help to make our district a cleaner and
healthier place to live.
