Alcohol and Drugs Misuse

Journey to Recovery (J2R), is the local substance misuse service. J2R is a partnership between DISC, Inward House Projects and Delphi Partnership.

J2R will offers a range of interventions including:-

• One to one worker
• Counselling
• Access to presriptions
• Group work and activities
• Complementary therapies
• Dual diagnosis support for those with more than one substance problem.
• Support for families & concerned others

J2R's model is based upon the concept of Recovery Coaching - each service user will be allocated a Recovery Worker who will take responsibility for ongoing support and care and will design a programme to the patient's needs.~

J2R also offers signposting to employment, education and training opportunities, support with housing and benefits and works with children and families.

Where can you go to get advice, help and support if you are drinking too much or if you are taking drugs?

There many services that can support you if you have a drug or alcohol problem or if you are concerned that your alcohol or drug use is becoming out of control. The NHS website provides information on the risks of excessive drinking, alcohol units, alcohol related news and personal stories. The website also provides links to support services and advice on how to drink sensibly.

The NHS also have a drugs website dedicated to providing information and advice, including the effects and dangers of drugs, where to get help and real life stories of drug misuse, along with links for further information.

Drinkline is the national alcohol helpline. If you're worried about your own or someone else's drinking, you can call this free helpline, in complete confidence, 24 hours a day. Call 0800 917 8282.

Addaction provides a free and confidential service to adults and young people who are experiencing drug or alcohol misuse, offering support, information and advice on preventing relapses in drug taking, and to help people to address their criminal behaviour. 

If you are an adult and would like advice or support call Addaction on 01524 230800. If you are under 21 and are experiencing problems with drugs or alcohol call Young Addaction on 01524 428310.
