Lancaster's bustling Charter Market can be found in the heart of Lancaster's historic city centre every Wednesday and Saturday. Enjoy the hustle and bustle of a traditional outdoor market and the waft of freshly cooked food as you meander through more than 40 stalls selling a wide selection of items.
From local produce to international cuisine, fresh fruit and vegetables to plants and flowers, jewellery and clothing to arts and crafts. There is also a wide variety of unique gifts for all occasions. You're sure to pick up something special at Lancaster's historic Charter Market.
Opening times: Every Wednesday and Saturday from 9am - 4.30pm (4pm in winter).
Christmas Fayre – Saturday, 13th and Sunday, 14th December
Lancaster City Council’s historic Charter Market is proud to be hosting a festive feast for all the senses this Christmas in the heart of Lancaster’s newly refurbished city centre.
During the weekend the event will see the market expand to other streets in city to provide Christmas shoppers with a trail of food, drink, arts and crafts against a backdrop of Georgian and Victorian architecture.
Adding to this fantastic shopping experience, there will also be live Covent Garden style street theatre, music and other attractions across the city centre throughout the weekend.
Traders are now being invited to apply for a pitch at the event from just £15 per day.

Please note we are now full for the Saturday. However we still welcome applications for the Sunday and you may also choose to be added to the waiting list for Saturday.
How to find us
Location: The Charter Market is centred on Market Square, Market Street and Cheapside (LA1 1XD).
By car: Leave the M6 at junction 33 or 34 and follow the signs for Lancaster city centre. There are a number of car parks close by.
By bus: Any bus to Lancaster bus station or Common Garden Street will drop you off just a couple of minutes walk away from the Charter Market.
By train: Lancaster's mainline train station is only a five minute walk away. From the station, head straight down the hill leading into the city centre.
