What is the Sustainability Partnership?
The Sustainability Partnership is a local group of individuals and organisations who work together in a positive way to promote sustainable activity in Lancaster district. To view the minutes of the Sustainability Partnership, please visit the Sustainability Partnership Minutes page.
The Sustainability Partnership is also a partner in the Lancaster District Local Strategic Partnership (LDLSP).
How can I join?
Membership is free and open to those who live or work in Lancaster district. The Partnership welcomes those with an interest in sustainability issues, who agree with its aims and are willing to contribute to project work. Membership is also available to named representatives from organisations who meet these criteria.
To join, please read the Sustainability Partnership Constitution, then complete and return the membership form, which you should then return to the Partnership Secretary, as indicated. These documents can be downloaded at the right of this page.

Other current projects
- The Little Book of Sustainable Living: A great publication jam-packed with easy steps to reduce the human impact on our planet and encourage environmentally-friendly living - you can download it or request a copy by following the above link.
- PASS on Plastics aims to reduce our consumption of unnecessary plastics and, therefore, reduce plastic pollution in Lancaster district.
- Reforestation of the Lune Valley: The Partnership hopes to contribute to this 10 year project by working with local elements of the Environment Agency and the Wildlife Trust, as well as Lancaster City Council, to help sensitively plant some of the millions of trees needed around the UK.
Past projects
- The One Planet Festival ran in partnership with a variety of organisations for it's second year in October 2009 and was a great success.
- LESS was set up by the Sustainability Partnership in March 2007 as a not-for-profit organisation. LESS provide guidance and practical support on sustainable living including growing your own food and reducing energy use in the home.
- Climate Change Action Coordinator: In 2009, the Sustainability Partnership received a grant from the LDLSP Second Homes Fund for a 9 month post which helped identify a programme of projects to reduce CO2 emissions in Lancaster district.
- The Eat Local Action Plan was developed to promote access to affordable, nutritious food, and to facilitate a sustainable food economy that supports locally produced food. You can download a copy from the right hand side of this page.
