About Us
Council Housing Services is responsible for the management and maintenance of approximately 4,000 homes located throughout the district.
Of these, over 500 are sheltered flats and bungalows which are particularly suited to applicants over retirement age.
The majority of our homes are located within the urban areas of Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham and Carnforth, although we do have a limited number of properties in over 20 rural locations (where priority for re-housing is given to applicants with a local connection).
We also manage the council's repair and maintenance section, providing a comprehensive maintenance service for all our housing stock and other council owned buildings
We are based at 38 Cable Street, Lancaster (which is directly opposite Sainsbury's). Any general enquiries relating to the Service should initially be made to our Customer Services Section, telephone 01524 582929.
If you want to apply for council housing, you will need to complete a housing application form. This site enables you to request a form and also explains how the council’s allocation policies work.
Finally, we are also responsible for the management of the council’s Central Control Service. This is a service which is manned twenty four hours a day and responds to any out of hours emergencies. It is also able to provide an around the clock monitoring and response service for any elderly or vulnerable resident.
