Repair & Maintenance
The Premises Management section of Property Services is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the majority of Lancaster City Council’s non-housing properties. These include municipal buildings, such as Lancaster and Morecambe Town Halls and tourist Information Centres; together with commercial buildings, like St. Leonard’s House, Lancaster Market Hall and a various shop premises. This section is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the appropriate regulations, licensing etc. (fire, public entertainment etc.) within the municipal buildings managed by the service.
Where possible the majority of work is carried out by the Council’s internal Repair & Maintenance Section, however on occasion it is necessary to put some jobs out to external contractors. Lancaster City Council is a member of Constructionline, a national database of pre-qualified contractors and consultants, which is the Council's preferred method for selecting contractors and consultants to be invited to tender. Alternatively, companies can forward any introductory documentation to the Maintenance Officer, who may request further details for consideration if it is felt they could be suitable for a contract.
