Repair and Maintenance
The premises management section of Lancaster City Council Property Group is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the majority of our non-housing properties. These include municipal buildings, such as Lancaster and Morecambe town halls and visitor information centres, and commercial buildings such as St. Leonard’s House and CityLab. We are also responsible for ensuring compliance with the appropriate regulations, licensing (fire, public entertainment etc.) within the municipal buildings managed by the service.
Where possible the majority of work is carried out by the council’s internal repair and maintenance section. However on occasion it is necessary to put some jobs out to external contractors. The council is a member of The Chest, the North West's Local Authority Procurement Portal and Constructionline, a national database of pre-qualified contractors and consultants, these are the council's preferred methods for selecting contractors and consultants to be invited to tender. Alternatively, companies can forward any introductory documentation to the maintenance officer, who may request further details for consideration if it is felt they could be suitable for a contract.
