How To Pay Council Tax

You can pay your council tax in the following ways.

Online

Online via our secure website 

Direct Debit

Call us on 01524 582900 to set up a direct debit.

Telephone (24 hours)

By credit card or debit card (24 hours). Call 0845 6017297.

Bank

Through your bank/online banking quoting the council's account details as follows: 

• Your council tax account reference (as printed on your council tax bill)
• Sort code: 08-90-15
• Account ref: 61213564

Post Office

Use your swipe card or bar coded bill to pay at any Post Office.

By post

Post your payment to us. Make your cheque or postal order payable to Lancaster City Council and write ‘account payee’ down the centre of your cheque if it isn’t there already. Write your reference number on the back.

Unfortunately, we can not accept post-dated cheques. Please do not send cash through the post.
