Independent Remuneration Panel

Lancaster City Council has an Independent Remuneration Panel that monitors the Members’ Allowance Scheme and makes recommendations to the council regarding the scheme.

Meetings take place on an average of 2 to 3 times a year at Lancaster Town Hall but will be held more frequently in years when a review of the scheme is to take place. Reviews are undertaken every four years, with the next review in 2011.

Those appointed as members of the Independent Remuneration Panel must not be a member of the authority or any committees of the authority, but must also not be disqualified from becoming a member of the authority.

More information and an application for recruitment to the Independent Remuneration Panel can be obtained from the downloads menu on the right hand side.

If you would like to know more about the Independent Remuneration Panel, please email democracy@lancaster.gov.uk.
