Food Premises Registration
This page outlines the process of registration of a food business, which is a legal requirement. You can register online, or download an application form and return it to us.
What is food premises registration?
It is a legal requirement for food premises (including delivery vehicles, market stalls, and other moveable structures) to be registered with the local authority. Registration allows authorities to keep an up-to-date list of all those premises in their area so that they can visit them when necessary.
Who needs to register?
If you are thinking of starting a new food business or taking over the ownership of an existing one then you need to fill in a registration form. You must register with the council at least 28 days before doing so.
What happens to the information?
The council keeps the details on its register. A register of addresses and the type of businesses operated is available as a public document.
Once you have registered with the council you only need to notify us of a change of proprietor, and if you stop operating.
