Two of England's most renowned heroes will be celebrated by staff at Lancaster City Council's two tourist information centres on Wednesday April 23.
The date marks St George's Day – when the deeds of England's patron saint are recognised – and also the believed birth date of William Shakespeare.
Visitors to Morecambe Visitor Information Centre and Lancaster Tourist Information Centre will be offered the chance to enter a free prize draw to win a meal for two in a 'Name the Dragon' competition and enjoy a toast to England and St George by sampling a complimentary glass of English apple juice.
Both centres will have St George’s Day fact sheets, 'Things you never knew about St George' and lots of information on Shakespeare's life, including brochures on Shakespeare’s birthplace of Stratford upon Avon, The Globe Theatre - the reconstucted theatre where most of Sheakepeare’s plays were first presented - and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage where he once lived.
There will be lots of St George's Day gift ideas - dragons, knights on horseback, castles, magnets, keyrings and car flags, and both centres will be dressed for the occasion with traditional flags and banners.
The displays will be in the centres from April 23 for one week so pop along and find out more about the 'real' St George.
