Enjoy an evening of guitar music with Gordon Giltrap

One of the UK's finest guitar players, Gordon Giltrap, will be in concert at The Platform in Morecambe on Friday April 18 starting at 8pm.

One of the UK’s finest guitar players, Gordon Giltrap, will be in concert at The Platform in Morecambe on Friday April 18 starting at 8pm.

Gordon was given his first guitar at the age of 12.  Like most youngsters he was influenced by the music of the day – Cliff and the Shadows, The Beatles and The Who.

By the time he was 18 he had secured his first recording contract.  Ten years, six albums and numerous concerts later, he became an ‘overnight success’ with the hit single 'Heartsong', the first of two chart singles and two chart albums.

‘Heartsong’ was nominated for the prestigious Ivor Novello Award and went on to be used for many years by the BBC for its famous 'Holiday Programme'.  Gordon’s reputation was growing and a number of orchestral works were commissioned, the most notable being the ‘Eye of the Wind Rhapsody’ premiered at London’s Guildhall by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Gordon's music has been used by both commercial and BBC television.  At one stage he had the theme music for both holiday programmes and ITV's 'Wish You Were Here' are still using 'The Carnival'.  He also wrote the theme music for World Bowls.

Gordon came second only to Eric Clapton in Guitar Magazine's 10th anniversary readers poll and was approached by his old friend Cliff Richard to appear in the hit musical 'Heathcliff'.  He wrote a number of tunes for the show and was later asked by Sir Cliff to guest on his track 'All That Matters' for the Princess Diana Memorial album, which they performed together on the National Lottery Live.

An evening with Gordon Giltrap is a great musical experience. Tickets cost £11 adults, £10 concessions, and are available from the Box Office on 01524 582803.
