Advertisements have recently appeared on TV and in the national press from the Electoral Commission reminding voters to check their names are on the Electoral Register so they can vote in the forthcoming local elections.
As a result the city council has received a number of calls from members of the public.
Although there are elections elsewhere in the country, there will be none in the area covered by Lancaster City Council.
The next scheduled elections in the Lancaster district are in 2009 when the city council will be responsible for administering the polls for Lancashire County Council and the European Parliament.
The next elections for Lancaster City Council will be in 2011, having last been held in 2007.
Lancaster City Council does, however, actively encourage people to register throughout the year. When people move to a new home in the district they are sent an application form inviting them to register this comes along with their Council Tax bill.
