Residents from Matthias Court in Morecambe are looking forward to summer now that a private garden oasis has been created for them.

Poulton Neighbourhood Management, which is managed by Lancaster City Council, has contributed £700 to the garden improvements which include fence screening for privacy and planting. Lancashire Partnership Against Crime contributed a further £700 to the improvements.

Mathias Court residents receive the chequeMatthias Court, a sheltered housing scheme run by Places for People, has 41 residents. Last year the residents spent £1,500 in memory of a former resident at the scheme to provide seating for the residents to sit out and enjoy the area.

Unfortunately, due to anti social behaviour in the area, some residents are unwilling to spend time there, due to criminal damage to property and verbal abuse they have been encountering from local youths. The new fencing and gates have made the area a private sanctuary for the residents to enjoy peace and quiet.
