Women's guided cycle ride to the Crook O'Lune - Sunday, May 4

Lancaster City Council continues its programme of guided rides for women this Sunday (May 4) with a relaxing spring time meander to the Crook O’Lune and Lune Valley.

Lancaster City Council continues its programme of guided rides for women this Sunday (May 4) with a relaxing spring time meander to the Crook O’Lune and Lune Valley.

The aim of the rides which take place on the first Sunday of every month from April to September, are to encourage women who might not have the confidence they need to cycle on their own, to get out and about with other like minded ladies.

This Sunday's nine mile ride takes cyclists off-road along the River Lune Millennium Path to the Crook O'Lune stopping for refreshments en route.

Sarah Pilling from Galgate took part in this ride last year.  She said:  "I had a great time - a picturesque ride in a beautiful part of our district with some lovely ladies and lunch - what more do you need?

"I would definitely recommend it to female cyclists of all ages and abilities!"

All rides are free and start at the south end of Lancaster's Millennium Bridge at 11am.  No need to book - just turn up!

For the full monthly programme of women's rides which is included in Lancaster City Council's new free Events and Guided Rides booklet 'Go by Bike' visit www.celebratingcycling.org, email: celebratingcycling@lancaster.gov.uk or contact Bee on 01524 582086.
