Breeze into the new designer cafe at the West End Gardens

Breeze, the brand new designer café at the West End Gardens will be opening soon.

Breeze, the brand new designer café at the West End Gardens will be opening soon.

Breeze will offer a high quality concession with emphasis on local produce and environmentally friendly packaging and operations.

The new operators are Marc and Maria Holley who are very excited about running the new café. Maria said: “The café will be called Breeze to reflect the location and the many uses of the elements in various aspects of the West End Gardens.

“What an honour it is to open our first business in this iconic building. Marc and I hope to provide the area with a much needed facility offering great food and drinks with a view to die for.”

She added: “We hope our interior will do justice to this stylish building. All our food will be produced by using fresh locally sourced ingredients. Our coffee will be roasted for us by Atkinson’s of Lancaster and we will offer a wide selection of ice creams by Fredericks; look out for some unusual flavours. For the more health conscious – fresh fruit smoothies are made to order. Whatever your tastes we hope we have something to offer you whether it’s a relaxing lunch for two or a cappuccino to go. Outdoor seating is available for those wishing to dine al fresco; it’s the perfect place for lunch whilst watching the children playing in the park. We want Breeze to be part of the community and a place all the locals will feel proud of.”

The café’s modern design with glass front and back makes full use of the beautiful views across the bay. The design has also taken into account energy efficiencies, has been well insulated and has under-floor heating.

A new public toilet block will also be open soon next door to the café. They represent the final phase of improvements to the West End Gardens and have been funded by the Safer Stronger Communities Fund and directed by the West End Partnership and Winning Back Morecambe’s West End to a cost of around £350,000.

Coun Evelyn Archer, cabinet member with responsibility for regeneration in Morecambe said:  "The new cafe and toilets are the icing on the cake for the redevelopment of the West End Gardens. Residents and visitors will be able to spend more time at the gardens now there are better facilities."

A celebratory event is being held at the West End Gardens on Saturday 23rd August from 12 – 3pm to launch the café and to mark the completion of the coastal defence works.
