Visitors to Happy Mount Park can now enjoy brand new toilet facilities thanks to Lancaster City Council.
The council has spent £85,000 on refurbishing the old toilet block in the park to create three WCs, one urinal and a disabled toilet with a baby change unit.
The modern facilities are similar to the ones installed at the Clock Tower and the Arndale Centre in 2006.
Coun Jon Barry, cabinet member with responsibility for City Council (Direct) Services, said: “With so many people visiting Happy Mount Park, particularly during the summer holidays, I’m pleased that these improved toilet facilities are now open.”
The toilets are regularly cleaned and maintained by Danfo UK Ltd, the company responsible for their installation.
As part of the contract the company maintains and cleans the units and is able to respond quickly following any malfunctions, such as a recent occasion when the hand dryer units stopped working.
The problem was caused by a temporary loss of water but was quickly rectified.
