Following the fantastic success of our British cycling team in Beijing, Lancaster City Council’s programme of guided cycle rides for women crosses the finish line this weekend with a 7 mile ride to Morecambe.
Women on Wheels rides was introduced to encourage women who might not have the confidence to ride alone, to get on their bikes and cycle around the district with other like-minded women.
This weekend’s route is the last in a series of 6 rides which have taken groups to Sunderland Point, Crook ‘o’ Lune, Glasson Dock and Carnforth.
The last ride promises to be just as exciting and rewarding, taking in the breezy shores and fantastic views of Morecambe Bay.
The guided ride is free and begins at 11am on Sunday, 7 September from the south end side of Lancaster’s Millennium Bridge. There’s no need to book, you can just show your face on the day (with a bike of course).
Look out for more women focused events in the coming months including training and opportunities to try out bikes and accessories. Make sure you don’t miss out by subscribing to our mailing list by sending an email to celebratingcycling@lancaster.gov.uk (with subscribe in the title).
