Get your skates on for new ice rink

Morecambe will be transformed into a winter wonderland this week with the arrival of an open air ice rink.

Morecambe will be transformed into a winter wonderland this week with the arrival of an open air ice rink.

From Wednesday you can get your skates on and glide around the (synthetic) ice with Peter the penguin. There will be plenty on offer for the less competent skaters as alongside the ice rink will be a host of festive stalls offering refreshments (including chestnuts roasting by an open…air ice rink) and opportunities for that last minute Christmas treat.

The rink will be open from Wednesday December 17 through to Monday December 22 from 1pm – 9pm. It will be situated in the car park next to the Platform on Marine Road Central, Morecambe.

The mobile ice rink comes with a snow machine, a music sound system and a mascot; ‘Peter the Penguin’. Admissions to the ice rink will cost £3 for adults and £2 for children.

For an extra special festive treat, there will be a carol service and nativity tableau with children from Morecambe primary schools on Thursday 18th December from 6.30pm, outside the Platform.

Poulton Neighbourhood Management and Winning Back Morecambe’s West End (Lancaster City Council regeneration schemes) are organising the Winter Wonderland.
