Lancaster City Council is backing an annual celebration of Fairtrade produce.
Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from February 25 to March 9, is the annual promotional campaign of the Fairtrade Foundation.
The aim of the campaign is to challenge people to make small changes in their everyday lives by choosing Fairtrade products when they shop.
The Lancaster, Morecambe and District Fairtrade group launched the local side of the campaign on Saturday when they held a stall inĀ Lancaster's St Nicholas Arcade.
The stall proved to be a great success with hundreds of shoppers stopping to find out more about Fairtrade products.
Councillor Stuart Langhorn, Lancaster City Council's representative on the Lancaster and Morecambe Fairtrade District Steering Group, said: "Local people should be proud that our Fairtrade District status has been renewed by the Fairtrade Foundation.
"Our enjoyment of Fairtrade products directly translates into benefits for farmers in the developing world.
"This shows that we are able to think globally and act locally by coming together to support Fairtrade."
