Lancaster City Council is looking for volunteers to join a Citizenship Panel and play an active role in the mayoralty, the council and the community.
The council is in the process of establishing a panel of people to help promote citizenship in a number of ways.
The panel will comprise of the Mayor, the Father of the Council (Coun Abbot Bryning) and nine members of the public who will be chosen from applications received by the Council Business Committee.
One its first jobs will be helping to choose the winner of the city council's newly established Citizenship Awards. It is hoped that the panel will also be involved in other council activities such as Local Democracy Week and developing citizenship.
If you would like to be involved in the panel please provide details of yourself in no more than 50 words. Panel members will initially be asked to serve for a period of one year, when a review of membership will take place.
Coun Susan Bray, chairman of the council business committee, said: "As part of a civic review it was decided to create a citizenship panel. The panel is a great opportunity for the people of the district to help promote citizenship. Not only will successful applicants make up part of the judging team on the inaugural citizenship awards they will also have the chance to assist with other civic events."
