Staff at Lancaster Tourist Information Centre and Morecambe Visitor Information Centre will be inviting customers to enjoy a 'Taste of Lancashire Food' as part of this year's British Tourism Week.
Now in its second year, this national event aims to raise awareness of the size, value and importance of Britain’s £74 billion visitor economy.
During this special week, which runs from March 10 to 18, both centres will highlight Lancashire's great reputation for quality local food.
Local cheeses, including the famous Blacksticks Blue Cheese, will be available to sample along with other produce from the county.
Lancashire recipes for specialties such as Lancashire Hot Pot will be on display alongside information on Lancashire's fabulous food culture. Our region is also famous for Morecambe Bay Shrimps, Eccles cakes, Chorley cakes, black pudding and much more.
Coun Abbott Bryning, cabinet member with responsibility for tourism in Lancaster said: "Tourism brought in £217million to the local economy last year and supports over 4,000 jobs in the district. The opportunities for developing the value of tourism in this area are great. Our area has so much to offer."
Coun June Ashworth, cabinet member with responsibility for tourism in Morecambe, added: "Lancashire has a proud history for producing quality food. British Tourism Week will provide a perfect celebration for all that is good about food in the red rose county.
"I hope local people will join us for a taste of what is on offer."
