Cyclists new and old are being offered the chance to brush up on their cycling skills thanks to Pedal Power.
Cyclists new and old are being offered the chance to brush up on their cycling skills thanks to Pedal Power.
Pedal Power, a local recycling and training organisation, are offering a variety of cycle training courses for new and intermediate cyclists.
So whether you got your first bike for Christmas, have decided to return to cycling in 2008 or just want to gain some confidence on your bike, Pedal Power has the training course for you.
The courses are due to start on January 26 and will be running over a period of six weeks. The classes take place at Pedal Power's headquarters in Ridge Square, Lancaster. The classes cost just £10 for adults and £5 for children and unwaged adults.
Saturday’s - 10am – 12pm: 26 January (L1), 9 February (L2) and 16 February (L1)
Wednesday Evenings - 6pm – 8pm: 30 January (L2), 5 March (L2)
Friday Daytime - 1.30pm – 3.30pm: 14 March (L2)
L1 is for beginners. The training will focus on how to ride a bike, basic handling skills, brakes, gears and manoeuvres.
L2 is for intermediate cyclists. This will involve an introduction to road riding, positioning on minor roads, turns and signals.
Coun Eileen Blamire, cabinet member with responsibility for cycling, said: "This is another great way for the local community to get involved with cycling. I'm sure the cycling skills Pedal Power teaches will prove invaluable to new and returning cyclists alike."
