Fresh from the success of the acclaimed BBC Soul Britannia series, This is Soul showcases the luminous talents of soul legends Eddie Floyd and Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band.
Charismatic singer, award winning actress and voice of the Soul Britannia series, Pauline Black, will be opening and compering this celebration of 50 years of Soul Music at Lancaster City Council's Morecambe Dome on Saturday February 16.
Geno Washington's show stopping style and breath taking energy produced two of the biggest selling albums in the sixties. In the late seventies, a new generation immortalised his name on record, when young soul pretenders Dexy's Midnight Runners released the hit single, 'Geno'. With his mighty Ram Jam Band, Geno continues to rock the soul of the new millennium.
Eddie Floyd, best known for his 1966 hit 'Knock on Wood' (which he co-wrote with Steve Cropper), worked with and wrote for Wilson Pickett and Otis Redding during the Memphis Soul era at Stax Records. He is a member of the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. This pioneering legend of the Stax sound tirelessly continues to spread the word of soul worldwide.
Pauline Black found fame with 2-Tone band The Selector in 1979, notching up five hit singles and two gold albums. Since then she has continually expanded her repertoire and with the This is Soul tour, returns to her first love, soul music.
This fabulous show will start at 8pm and tickets cost £15 from the Box Office on 01524 582803.
