Lancaster City Council is pleased to announce that chart topping band The Kooks will be performing at The Dome in Morecambe later this month.
The gig on Wednesday January 30 is one of just three intimate shows the band is holding around the country to promote their forthcoming new album.
The Kooks new album 'Konk' is due out in April and is the follow up to 2006's Inside in / Inside out. They received nominations at both the Brit and Q awards in 2006 thanks to hit singles like 'Naïve' and 'She moves in her own way.'
Coun Maia Whitelegg, cabinet member with responsibility for culture, leisure, sport and young people, said: "This is a fantastic booking and is the result of a lot of hard work over recent weeks by council officers.
"The gig follows up on the success of attracting big names in 2007 when artists such as the Arctic Monkeys, Athlete, and Reverend and the Makers came to the district."
Demand to see the Kooks has already outstripped supply. Tickets for the gig sold out in a matter of hours after the news was announced by the band's management.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the gig is for over 18s only. For information on other events held at the Dome or the Platform visit the what’s on guide page on Lancaster City Council’s website. www.lancaster.gov.uk or phone 01524 582878.
