Morecambe’s Festival Market celebrated its fourth annual family fun weekend in style, despite the best efforts of the weather.
Morecambe’s Festival Market celebrated its fourth annual family fun weekend in style, despite the best efforts of the weather.
Traders and customers braved the conditions to enjoy a weekend of entertainment. Saturday started with dazzling performances from the ‘Off the rails’ jazz orchestra and the Strawberry dance studios. A chink in the clouds allowed Astral Circus’s ‘Tarquin Farquar’ and his fabulous flamingo to venture outside and wow the crowds.
Sunday saw more amazing performances from the Astral Circus, including Stuart Terry tight rope walking, fire eating and juggling with knifes. The Bay Beat Carnival Band got the crowd grooving with a fantastic rendition of ‘Bring me sunshine’ whilst Ben Slinger and Danny Butler showed off their death defying tricks with their mountain bike displays.
The children were also kept entertained with a Punch and Judy show, bouncy castle and face painting.
Tracey Bruce, Festival Market manager, said: “Despite the weather it was a great weekend. There was something for everyone to enjoy and it proved as popular as ever. We are now looking forward to the visiting Continental Market at the end of August.”
More than £600 was raised for local charities. Lancaster City Council would like to thank the traders and customers more making the event a huge success.
