Public Consultation on New Planning Applications for Canal Corridor North

Three new planning applications and one amendment to an existing application have now been received in relation to the Canal Corridor North (Centros) proposed development.

Three new planning applications and one amendment to an existing application have now been received in relation to the Canal Corridor North (Centros) proposed development.

The new applications replace some of the previous proposals, which have been formally withdrawn by Centros.

The list of applications below summarises the current applications due to be considered by the City Council’s Planning Service later this year.

New Main Outline Planning Application

08/00866/OUT – Outline application for comprehensive redevelopment of the Canal Corridor Site.

This replaces application 07/00672/OUT, which has been withdrawn.

Other New Planning Applications

08/00864/OUT – Outline application for the redevelopment of the site to provide self-contained residential accommodation and car parking at land adjacent to Alfred Street and St Leonard’s Gate.

This is a new application and does not replace any of the existing submissions.

08/00865/OUT – Outline application for the redevelopment of the site to provide residential accommodation and car parking at Heron Chemical Works, Moor Lane.

This replaces application 07/00589/OUT, which has been withdrawn.

Amended Planning Application

07/00602/OUT – Outline application for redevelopment of the land east of the Golden Lion Pub, Moor Lane to provide a building for retail use at ground floor and offices above.

The plans have been amended in respect of changes to building heights.

Other Existing Planning Applications

07/00662/LB – Listed Building application for the alteration of St Leonard’s Gate by the removal of the adjacent redundant spiritualist church and reinstatement of flank wall of 18 St Leonard's Gate.

07/00665/LB – Listed Building application to alter and reinstate northern elevation following Heron Chemical Works demolition at Mill Hall, Moor Lane.

07/00667/LB – Listed Building application to alter and reinstate flank wall following demolition of 1 Lodge Street at The Grand Theatre.

07/00668/LB – Listed Building application to alter and reinstate curtilage wall following adjacent demolition at Mill Hall, Moor Lane.

07/00669/LB – Listed Building application to demolish buildings to the rear and alter and reinstate flank wall at 11 Moor Lane.

07/00674/LB – Listed Building application to demolish rear extensions and outbuildings and alter/reinstate rear elevations at 127, 129 and 131 St Leonard's Gate.

07/00663/CON – Conservation Area application to demolish part of Heron Chemical Works and ancillary structures.

07/00666/CON – Conservation Area application to demolish structures adjacent to Mill House Gatehouse and curtilage wall at Heron Chemical Works.

07/00670/CON – Conservation Area application to demolish 1 Lodge Street and associated structures.

07/00671/CON – Conservation Area application to demolish 1-2 St Anne’s Place and ancillary structures.

07/00673/CON – Conservation Area application to demolish 133-139 St Leonard’s Gate, 1-5 Stonewell, 3-7 Moor Lane and ancillary structures.

All documents can be viewed at http://planapps.lancaster.gov.uk/PublicAccess/ by searching for the application number 08/00866/OUT. 

Alternatively, the plans are available for viewing from Thursday this week (10 July) at Lancaster and Morecambe Town Hall Customer Service Centres.  The centres are open from 9am to 5pm - Monday to Friday.

Anybody can comment on these applications online via the council's public access system or by sending an email to dcconsultation@lancaster.gov.uk.  Alternatively, you can send your views in writing to Planning Services, Development Control Team, PO Box 4, Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1QR.

If you are making comments, please be aware that these will be published on the council’s website.  You are therefore advised to omit signatures and telephone numbers.  Due to the volume of consultation responses anticipated, please allow 3 working days for your submitted comments to appear on the website.

It is acceptable to incorporate your comments for the whole development into one single letter if you wish.  Alternatively you may wish to comment individually on the merits of each of the applications.

If you are submitting one single letter, please quote application number 08/00866/OUT.

Comments must be received by 7th August 2008. 

The applications are due to be determined in the Autumn.
