Sunday, 15 June - Community Festival, Williamson Park, Lancaster

The 4th Community Festival showcases the best of our district with displays and activities from a wide range of local organisations. This year there will be the chance to celebrate cycling with the council's CDT team and others including information stands,  Dr Bike, bike postcoding and training with Pedal Power  (call them on 01524 65328).

This is an easy evening ride along Lancaster Canal to Hest Bank for a relaxing drink, then back again.

Thursday, 19 June - Dukes Theatre, Lancaster – 7pm

A Handful of Spokes and Stories

Stuck for something to do in the summer holidays?
Then come along and listen to Stuart Wickes and Kirstie Pelling who set off with their three young children to tour the UK by bike. After forty nine days and well over a 1000 miles, they surprised themselves by completing the classic challenge ride from Lands End to John O Groats, arriving home just in time for school. (see www.familyonabike.org)

Friday, 20 June – Solstice Bike Ride - meet Millennium Bridge (south) - 8pm

Join the CDT team for a late evening bike ride to celebrate the Summer Solstice at the Crook O’Lune.

Sunday, 22 June – guided ride to Sunderland Point - meet Millennium Bridge (south) - 11am

An enjoyable ride using one of the area’s least used cycle paths to the small, isolated village of Sunderland. The ride uses off road paths and quiet roads through Overton. We’ll stop for refreshments in Sunderland, with a chance to explore the local area and wildlife .

Everyone is welcome to take part in these events and rides free of charge.

For information on any of the above events or to see all local events please visit www.celebratingcycling.org.

If you fancy organising an event of your own, visit www.bikeweek.org.uk for advice and ideas.
