Members of the public are being asked to share their experiences of antisocial behaviour and ideas on how Lancaster City Council can improve its approach to combating the problem.
The council has set up a task group to gather evidence and report back on how it can improve its internal approach towards combating antisocial behaviour.
Four public meetings will be held to discuss the issues with the first being held at 6pm on March 27 at Lancaster Town Hall.
Coun Joyce Pritchard has been appointed chairman of the antisocial behaviour task group while the Rev Tim Horobin will chair the public meetings.
Coun Pritchard said: "Antisocial behaviour is one of the biggest issues faced by our district and of course the city council cannot prevent antisocial behaviour.
"However, this task group has been established to gather evidence on the current problems faced by the public and hear any ideas they may have to help the council play its part in reducing antisocial behaviour.
"We do not profess to be able to solve the problem but hopefully the task group will make a positive contribution to highlighting some of the issues involved."
The aims of the task include:
1) Establishing and highlighting the main themes surrounding antisocial behaviour from evidence gathered in public meetings
2) Highlighting the areas where the council can improve in its approach to combating antisocial behaviour
3) Making recommendations on how the council can improve its internal approach to antisocial behaviour
Public meetings will also be held in Morecambe, Carnforth and one of the district’s rural villages on dates and times to be arranged.
Following the public meetings the task group will convene and produce a report which will then be considered by the council’s cabinet.
