Owners of listed buildings in two of Lancaster's most historic areas are being offered the chance to apply for grants to enhance their properties.
Lancaster City Council is offering grants for the repair and reinstatement of historic timber windows and doors within the City and Castle Conservation Areas.
The council is offering grants of 50%, up to a maximum of £1,500, for eligible works. The windows and doors must be along street frontages; however shop fronts are excluded from receiving the grants.
Coun Eileen Blamire, cabinet member with responsibility for planning policy, said: "We are delighted to offer grants to help conserve and reinstate the historic fabric of Lancaster.
"Many people take Lancaster’s wonderful historic features for granted, such as its windows and doors. However, regular maintenance of this fabric is crucial to ensure its longevity and so that future generations may enjoy it as we do."
A well maintained historic centre can have major benefits for the city as well as making it a more pleasant place in which to live and work.
