Christchurch primary school to represent the district at youth games
Christchurch Primary School will represent the district at the Lancashire Youth Games after winning Lancaster City Council's annual tag rugby competition.
Christchurch Primary School will represent the district at the Lancashire Youth Games after winning Lancaster City Council’s annual tag rugby competition.
The Vale of Lune rugby club was the setting on Wednesday May 5 as twenty teams battled it out in the primary school competition.
The seven a-side tournament was open to all Year 5 and 6 boys and girls. Each team had to play three girls throughout their matches.
The teams were split into four groups with the top two from each progressing through to the quarter finals. Most of the group stage games were tight affairs with eight ending in a tie and most having just one try in it.
In the end Arkholme and St Peter’s B progressed from group one, St Wilfrid’s and Christchurch A qualified from group two. Dallas Road A and Moorside B came out on top from group three with St Peter’s A and Moorside A completing the quarter final line up.

The Lancashire Youth Games are again being held in Stanley Park, Blackpool and will take place on Saturday 28 June.
Joining them at the games will be Central Lancaster high school. Their year 7 girls won the secondary school event.
All the competitors received a medal for taking part and the winners and runners up also received trophies.
