Council Housing Tenants Conference 2008

Lancaster City Council is holding its first ever Tenants' Conference this Friday (23 May) at Lancaster Town Hall.

Lancaster City Council is holding its first ever Tenants' Conference this Friday (23 May) at Lancaster Town Hall.

With a theme of ‘democracy at work in the community’, the conference will see a range of speakers from the council and other organisations in the morning which will end with a question and answer session.

In the afternoon, tenants can participate in several workshops which will include a debate in the Council Chamber, an interactive session on how councils set their budgets and a session for tenants groups to learn how to identify community projects and find funding.

Tenants will also get the opportunity to find out how the council housing service works, how they can become more involved and the various ways in which they can contribute their ideas.

The conference starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.  All council tenants are welcome to attend.
