Jon Sparks Book Launch Event at Morecambe Visitor Information Centre

Morecambe Visitor Information Centre will be the venue for the launch of a new book from renowned photographer and writer Jon Sparks.

Morecambe Visitor Information Centre will be the venue for the launch of a new book from renowned photographer and writer Jon Sparks.

Jon founded his career on photographing Lancashire and the Lake District, although today his library encompasses images from five continents.

While first recognised as a photographer, Jon has always been a writer too, and his literary output now includes guidebooks for walkers, climbers and cyclists and other acclaimed books on outdoor photography.

His latest publication – Portrait of Morecambe Bay – focuses on the beauty of one of the most stunning pieces of coastline in the country.

It will be launched on Friday June 6 at the Morecambe VIC between 12pm and 2pm. The launch will also coincide with the conference of the North West Coastal Forum which is taking place over the 5th and 6th June in the refurbished Midland Hotel.

Refreshments available on the day will include Nettle Tea and 'Hidgy Pidgy Scones' (made from a special mix including cheese and nettles) provided by Cherie Bell, the owner of Bells Cottage Tea Room, Main Street Heysham Village who specialises in this unusual delicacy using a unique recipe.

Jon will be available to sign copies of his books and the Right Worshipful Mayor of Lancaster, Coun Keith Budden, will also be in attendance.

Lancaster City Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for tourism, Coun Shirley Burns, said: “Jon’s photography has been a massive support over the years to the promotion of the Lancaster district.

“This is an opportunity to congratulate him on his latest work and purchase some excellent photography of our area.”
