An evening of top quality Rhythm and Blues comes to The Platform in Morecambe on Friday May 16 with The Blues Band.

An evening of top quality Rhythm and Blues comes to The Platform in Morecambe on Friday May 16 with The Blues Band.

The Blues Band formed in 1979 to play the music that was their passion – the blues – just for fun and to make a bit of beer money.  They were so successful that they soon found themselves with whole new careers on their hands.

They have released 17 albums, culminating in their latest release - ‘Thank You Brother Ray’, a tribute to the late great Ray Charles, and have regularly rung the musical changes.  The repertoire includes a large catalogue of original songs plus their own versions of material from writers such as Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Sleepy John Estes.

In the past 25 years the band have played all around the world in venues ranging from intimate clubs to civic halls and theatres and have wowed festival audiences in many countries including headline appearances at Glastonbury.

With four singers and songwriters in the band, the quality and variety of performance and material offered by The Blues Band is unrivalled.  The band’s passion and reverence for the music all combine to deliver the definitive ‘good night out’ available from any artiste operating within the blues field in Europe and beyond.

The concert starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £15 adults, £13 concessions, and are available from the Box Office by telephoning 01524 582803.  Please note that this concert will be seated.
