Lancaster City Council publishes list of potential housing site suggestions

Lancaster City Council has published online plans of potential new housing sites in the district.

Lancaster City Council has published online plans of potential new housing sites in the district.

National and regional planning policy requires the council to identify enough housing sites across the Lancaster district to accommodate approximately 6,000 new homes over the next 15 years.

In order to meet this housing need the council is undertaking its most comprehensive assessment ever of housing opportunities.

The results of the study will be a major consideration in allocating future development sites.

At this stage the suggested sites have not been assessed; they represent only sites with the potential to be considered.

Available to view at www.lancaster.gov.uk/SHLAA, the plans identify over 500 potential sites.

For further information on the SHLAA process please contact Maurice Brophy, Senior Planning Officer, on 01524 582330 or Rebecca Jones, Forward Planning Officer, on 01524 582591. You can also e-mail questions, or information that can assist the assessment process, to callforsites@lancaster.gov.uk.
