Lawrence Walker of Scotforth in Lancaster has won £100 to spend at the Lancaster pub after he entered a competition in the city council’s residents’ magazine, Your District Council Matters.

The competition, which asked people to identify a range of services provided by the council, attracted 368 entries.

Mr Walker, who lives in Scotforth, was delighted with his prize: “I was a bit shocked to be honest because I’d forgotten that I’d even entered the competition!
“It’s a nice surprise and I’m looking forward to taking a look at the menu to see what’s on offer.”

Martin Horner, who owns The Borough with his wife, Hannah, added: “We were delighted to be able to work with the council and offer the prize to such a lovely gentleman.”
