Launch of Stanley's Community Time Bank - Thursday, 23 October
Have you got time on your hands that could be put to good use to help others?
Have you got time on your hands that could be put to good use to help others?
Then why not join a Time Bank – a scheme that allows people to share their skills an hour at a time with their neighbours and others living within their community.
A new Time Bank will be launched at Stanley’s Community Centre at 79-83 Stanley Road, Morecambe on Thursday, 23 October. Everyone is invited to come along to find out more about Time Banks from 11am - 1pm and how they can get involved over free tea and cakes.
Managed by the Lancaster District 50Forward Project, Stanley’s Community Time Bank will be one of five such banks already making a difference to the lives of hundreds of people living in the area.
So whether you’re a genius in the garden, a dab hand at DIY, superb at sewing or knitting or can offer to do someone’s shopping or exercise their dog, you could find yourself benefitting others from joining a time bank and, if need be, make use of their talents in return.
Coun John Barnes, Lancaster City Council’s representative on the 50 Forward Project Board said: "This is a fantastic way for anyone with time on their hands to give something back to their community. Time Banks bring communities closer together and make people feel valued and included.”
If you’re interested and need to know more, come along to the launch for a brew and a chat and let the Time Bank people help you decide.
