Overseas students from the district’s two universities were given a warm welcome at Lancaster Town Hall.
On Thursday (October 23), Lancaster City Council held a reception for more than 150 students from Lancaster University and the Lancaster campus of the University of Cumbria.
Hosted by the Mayor of Lancaster, Coun Keith Budden, the aim of the evening was to welcome the students to the district and encourage them and their families/friends to make the most of their time here.
The evening included a presentation by the city council’s tourism service and a quiz.
Coun Budden said: “One of Lancaster’s many strengths is the diversity brought by having overseas students come to our two universities.
“I hope they all enjoy their time studying in the district and that they, their friends and family take the time to enjoy the many sights and attractions we have to offer.”
Karen Shaw, International Student Adviser from the University of Cumbria, added: “I’m delighted that once again, Lancaster City Council, the University of Cumbria and Lancaster University were able to organise this annual event to welcome international students to Lancaster.
“I’m sure that the students who attended the reception at Lancaster Town Hall greatly enjoyed meeting the mayor and discovering what Lancaster and Morecambe has to offer. Thank you to Lancaster City Council for hosting this event.”
